COMPANY INFO
Like many of the major gun makers, SMITH & WESSON, under the BANGOR PUNTA years offered their own line of
factory logo gun leather to go with their handguns.  But unlike some of the others, S&W
actually had their own division & factory making the holsters directly for the company.
S&W maintained quality control and produced a very nice
holster above industry standards for their day.
S&W did not stand on ceremony and was happy to put their brand on holsters
made for other gun makers firearms as well as well as S&W models.
About 1985 S&W gave up their leather Crafting division and began receiving holsters made by other major makers, but
bearing the S&W logo.  In the early 1990s S&W stopped offering leather holsters all together.
Like other S&W accessories, these are becoming scarcer, and recognized and collectible.
This is for a vintage, Barely USED,
SMITH & WESSON FACTORY BRAND
, Sportsman Field Gun Holster.
I can tell it has briefly holstered a gun as there are small marks INSIDE the holster.
This is the
Model 19 series S&W classic "Blazer"
cut field holster which S&W marketed as their WESSONHIDE model back in the 1970's.

The holster is made of heavy double ply "WESSONHIDE" with metal reinforcement and double stitching at the stress points.
Bassically a Snap Loop design, you can slide or snap over your belt...or loop it thru your Hollywood style slotted gun belt.

This creates a holster with a SMOOTH FINISHED LINING to protect your gun finish and speed the draw.
WESSONHIDE was the tradename S&W put to their experiment with modern synthetic materials.

NO KIDDING, it really is almost impossible to tell it is not top grain cowhide.  And the holster is lighter, and highly resistant to heat, cold or moisture, wipes clean with a damp cloth.

My vintage catalog and the pacakge states the original intended true application for the original S&W Small frames and similar small revolvers with a 3" barrel and a hammer.
I found the 4" barrels are covered as well.
BEST FITS ON THIS WERE THE I FRAME & IMPROVED I FRAME and J FRAME
SMITH& WESSON Models Regulation Police, & Models 30 34 KIT, 36 37...Magnum Model 60 will be too big, old Model 60 should fit

I have shown it with a Model 30-1 and Regulation Police... not included.
Other similar framed guns may also fit, please check your application and make sure this is right for you.
